Why Struktur
Treats pigment, redness and more
One appointment can work on sun spots, age spots, rosacea-related redness, broken capillaries and fine lines together, because the light responds to what's actually in your skin.
Assessed at your first visit
IPL books directly, with no separate consultation: Ute or Jo-Ann assess your skin at your first appointment, and a free test patch shows how your skin responds.
Ute and Jo-Ann both do IPL
Jo-Ann works alongside Ute on IPL photofacials, so scheduling is more flexible than a single-specialist treatment room.
What an IPL photofacial treats
Intense pulsed light, or IPL, sends broad-spectrum light into the skin, where it's absorbed by pigment or by blood vessels close to the surface. That energy breaks down unwanted pigment and helps calm visible vessels, while also encouraging your skin's own collagen production. We use it for sun spots and age spots, general pigmentation, redness and rosacea, broken capillaries, and fine lines.
IPL is also used on acne-prone skin, and we do spot removal for a single mark, plus IPL on the hands, where sun damage often shows first. IPL also reduces unwanted hair on the same machine; see our IPL hair removal page if that's what you're after.
Redness, rosacea and broken capillaries
If your skin flushes easily or you have visible thread veins, IPL vascular treatment targets the blood vessels causing the redness without disturbing the surrounding skin. Most clients see calmer, more even-toned skin over a series of sessions, though how many you need depends on how you respond.
Sun spots, pigmentation and hands
Calgary's sun is hard on skin, and pigmentation often shows first on the face, chest and the backs of the hands. IPL face, and IPL face, neck and chest, treatments work on sun spots and uneven tone together; a shorter IPL hands session targets the backs of the hands specifically.
Before your first treatment
Because IPL responds to pigment, we do a free test patch before your first session to see how your skin reacts and to confirm the treatment is right for you. We'll talk through how many sessions to plan for and what to expect afterward at that same visit.
Results build gradually. Most clients notice pigment fading and skin looking more even over the days and weeks after a session, with continued improvement across a course of treatments. How many sessions you need depends on your skin and what you're treating, which is part of what the test patch and consultation are for.
IPL photofacial prices
Prices are before GST. A free test patch comes before your first IPL treatment, and no separate consultation is needed: your skin is assessed at the appointment; how many sessions you need depends on your skin and what you're treating. Prices checked against our till on 25 September 2026.

IPL photofacial questions
Still wondering? Ask Bella in the chat, any time, or call 403-242-4230.
Does an IPL photofacial hurt?
Sensation varies from person to person, which is one reason every new client starts with a free test patch: you feel exactly what a pulse is like on your own skin before your first full treatment, and we can adjust settings to your comfort.
How many IPL sessions will I need?
It depends on your skin and what you're treating. Sun spots and pigmentation often respond within a handful of sessions; redness and rosacea can take a longer course. We'll talk through a realistic plan at your test patch appointment.
Is there downtime after IPL?
Expect one to three days of mild redness after an IPL photofacial. Any pigment we targeted darkens first, then flakes away on its own. Ute goes over aftercare for your skin at your appointment.
What does IPL actually treat?
IPL targets pigment and blood vessels close to the skin's surface, so it works well on sun spots, age spots, general pigmentation, redness, rosacea, broken capillaries and fine lines.
How much does an IPL photofacial cost in Calgary?
IPL face is $165 before GST and takes about 75 minutes. IPL face, neck and chest is $279, includes the signature spa facial, and takes about two hours, and IPL hands is $99 for 30 minutes. A test patch before your first treatment is free.
Do I need a test patch before every IPL treatment?
Just before your first one. It's a free, quick way for us to see how your skin responds before booking a full session.
Can IPL help with acne?
Yes, IPL acne treatment is on our menu and can help calm active breakouts and the redness they leave behind. It's $135 before GST for a session, and the signature spa facial is included.
