What a lash lift and tint does

A lash lift and tint curls your own lashes upward and darkens them. The idea is the look of lashes that have been curled and given a coat of mascara, without doing either each morning. The studio describes the result as lashes that look like extensions but are your own. Ute works with Thuya products for lifts and tints.

Because nothing is added, a lift works with the length and number of lashes you already have. If you want added length or fullness, eyelash extensions do that, and they need a fill, $89, as they grow out.

Who chooses a lash lift instead of extensions

A lift suits you if you like your own lashes and want them curled and darker. It also suits anyone whose eyes are sensitive, or who simply dislikes the feel of extensions. Both are reasons the studio gives for choosing one. If you would rather not book a fill every three to four weeks, a lift is a simpler routine.

Getting ready for your lash lift

Come with clean lashes and no eye makeup. If your eyes are sensitive, tell Ute at the start of your appointment. The lift and tint are one 60-minute booking with her, so there is nothing extra to add on the day.

Looking after your lash lift

The first 48 hours matter most. Keep water and steam off your lashes, leave mascara out, and skip hard exercise or anything else that makes you sweat. Showering is fine as long as the water stays away from your lashes. After that, brush your lashes through each morning and evening.

Plan on about six to eight weeks from a lift before your lashes grow out of the shape and it is time to book again.
