How laser tattoo removal works

The laser targets the pigment in your tattoo, breaking it into smaller particles that your body clears away naturally over the following weeks. You'll usually see the skin whiten briefly right after a pass, a normal reaction as the ink breaks apart, before it settles back down over the following hours.

Most tattoos fade gradually across several sessions rather than disappearing after one. How many you need depends on the ink's colours, how deep and dense it is, and your own skin.

What to expect

No separate consultation is needed: at your first session Ute looks at your tattoo, its colours and its history, and talks through a realistic plan. A session is booked for an hour, and we'll go over aftercare so the area heals well between appointments. Sessions are spaced weeks apart, to give your skin time to clear the treated ink before the next pass; Ute sets the interval for your tattoo. Can every tattoo be removed?

Most tattoos respond to laser treatment, though some colours and inks fade more readily than others, and a heavily layered or very old tattoo can take more sessions than a simple one. Partial removal, fading a section so it can be covered by new work, is also common. Ute looks at your tattoo at your first visit and gives you an honest sense of what to expect, rather than a guess over the phone.
