For Ute Geronazzo, being a business owner isn’t about having a career. It’s about enjoying every minute of life. In 2006, Ute’s mother was diagnosed with cancer. After taking time off from her job to take care of her mother, Ute realized how short life is and started looking for a new direction. “Being a single mother, this career change was a huge undertaking,” says Ute, who went back to school in Calgary and Montreal to study laser treatment and esthetics. Her sister was a hair dresser and helped Ute get her start.

By 2008, Ute was ready to take on her own business and opened Struktur Hair and Skin Studio just west of Marda Loop. “It was a bit unnerving starting a new business on my own, learning all the dos and don’ts, and it is still a work in progress,” she says.

A Boutique Salon

A Boutique Salon with a Big Heart

Struktur Hair and Nail Studio is a small boutique salon and Ute prefers it that way. But don’t be fooled by its small stature – the studio boasts an experienced team of stylists and estheticians to provide all the services you would find at a big salon. “Our goal is simple: Provide expertise and support for all your beauty needs,” says Ute. “Our esthetics room provides clients with top-of-the-line skin care products and highly effective equipment – whether it is an acne facial, R/F tightening, or any IPL laser treatments.”

There is also a private pedicure room so clients can relax and enjoy a moment of peace. “You can get a pedicure done while your colour is processing,” says Ute. “That’s a great convenience to those with hectic lives.”

Regardless of the treatment or pampering you're enjoying, Struktur Hair and Skin Studio's amazing team is dedicated to its customers. “We work hard to make sure our sense of family extends through to our remarkable staff and loyal guests,” says Ute.
Fun and Family

Success Built on Fun and Family

Being a business owner has its challenges and responsibilities, but Ute loves what she does. Even when things don’t go her way – like the time she decided to acid wash the cement floors by herself  but picked the wrong product. “I applied the product the night before, which usually takes only two hours to dry. The next day we all came into work and the floors were so sticky that we call that day 'duck day' because of the quacking sound it made when you walked across the salon floor,” laughs Ute. “Note to self: Stick with the usual floor gloss product.”

Ute is proud of her salon and of the staff that have made Struktur Hair and Skin Studio a success. “I do not regret any decision in this journey. It makes me happy to be meeting all of these wonderful people I call clients,” says Ute. “My staff: Sabine, Shenda, Fedora, Dawn and Soo make each day worth coming in to work for and without the help of them this place wouldn’t be what it is today.”

Her certification is as a Laser Technician & Skincare Specialist.  Besides being a business owner she likes to focus her skills on Microblading, Eyelash Extensions Micro-Needling,  Cryo-Therapy, Laser facials, problematic/anti aging facials & waxing.

She is dedicated to helping clients get "skin healthy".

Sabine

Master Journeyman Stylist & Colorist

Sabine is from Nurnberg, Germany and has always loved doing hair ever since a young girl. Fast forward 38+ years later & still loving it!!
She's been with us at Struktur since day one.

Whether you want Ombre, Balayage, Color melt or an artistic cut, she is always looking for a challenge & new hair design trends.

HAIR STYLIST

Originally from Columbia, with over 10 years experience in hairstyling, specializing in precision cuts, vibrant color transformations and personalized hair treatments.
Her creativity and attention to detail have made her a favorite among clients looking for stylish and customized looks.


Berta is fluent in both English and Spanish,  Her warm personality and dedication to her craft create an exceptional salon experience,

Nail Technician

Soo has been in the salon industry for nearly 40 years. She has been with us almost 13 years.

She has taught nail art in NY but, her specialization is in French gel manicures,
Gel manicure, pedicures, problematic nail fungus treatment & waxing. 
Soo is very soft-spoken and gentle.
She strives to provide the best experience for each and every one of her clients with her personalized connections she makes with them all.
