What Olaplex and K18 are for
Bleach and heat break down bonds in the hair. Olaplex and K18 are bond treatments, and we use them to help rebuild those bonds and protect the hair's structure while we colour, lighten or perm it.
Ute describes Olaplex as a treatment that, used with a chemical service, helps with breakage and with dry, dehydrated hair. Your stylist can tell you how that applies to your own hair.
When to add it
- With colour. It can be added to any colour. See hair colour.
- With lightening. Highlights, balayage and other lightening services all lift the hair. See foil highlights and balayage.
- With a perm. It can be added to any perm. See perms.
- On its own. You can also book it by itself, for example before a big event.
